Dr Doraid Alrifai

Biography

Dr Doraid Alrifai is a medical oncologist with extensive experience in treating thoracic and urological cancers, including lung, mesothelioma, thymoma, kidney, bladder, prostate, and penile malignancies. He is based at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals. 

Dr Alrifai completed his medical degree at the University of Birmingham in 2007 and undertook specialist training at leading London institutions such as University College London Hospitals and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He holds a PhD in thoracic oncology from University College London and an MSc from the Institute of Cancer Research. 

With a strong research background, Dr Alrifai is actively involved in early and late-phase clinical trials and has published in prestigious journals including the New England Journal of Medicine. He has also contributed to oncology textbooks and serves as a reviewer for national and international journals. 

Dr Alrifai is Clinical Governance Lead in Oncology at St George’s. He regularly chairs and speaks at local and international medical events. In addition to his oncology work, he played a key role in the COVID Medicine Delivery Unit (CMDU) at St George’s during the pandemic, a contribution featured by the BBC. He also co-directs The International Cancer Care Network (ICCN), a medical group involved in health screening and education as well as the management of cancer patients.
