Dr John Glees

MD FRCR DMRT

Biography

Dr John Glees is an internationally recognised Consultant Clinical Oncologist with over 40 years of experience in the treatment of cancer. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) by examination and holds an MD with Honours, with a thesis on brain tumours. He also holds the Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy (DMRT), London. 

Dr Glees has been a leading pioneer in the UK in applying radiotherapy to benign diseases and has treated a wide variety of such conditions.

Dr Glees is known for his clinical expertise, dedication to innovation, and a deeply personalised approach to patient care. He is highly specialised in both radiation therapy and chemotherapy for a wide spectrum of malignancies, combining advanced techniques with decades of hands-on knowledge.  

Dr Glees trained in England, Germany, and the United States, where he began his radiotherapy career working with the renowned Dr Irwin Tepper. Upon returning to the UK in 1971, he went on to become an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of London (1981–2010). 

He has published extensively in medical literature and is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences on oncology and radiotherapy. 

He is also the current President of the RAD/51 Society, a professional association for consultant radiotherapists across the UK and Ireland, facilitating international dialogue and research on the most recent advances in radiotherapy.
