Dr Sara Khaksar

Biography

Dr Sara Khaksar is a clinical oncologist with extensive experience in the treatment of prostate cancer, including both localised and metastatic disease. She offers a range of advanced treatment options including Prostate MRL adaptive stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR), prostate brachytherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR) for oligometastatic disease, chemotherapy, androgen receptor targeted agents (ARTA), PARP inhibitors, and Lutetium-177 therapy. 

Dr Khaksar completed her medical degree at the University of Wales in 1993 and undertook clinical oncology training in London, followed by fellowship training at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and the Royal Surrey County Hospital. During her fellowship at the Royal Surrey, she played a key role in refining prostate brachytherapy techniques, helping develop the real-time single-stage implant now used as standard practice. 

She served as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Royal Surrey from 2006 to 2021, where she was actively involved in clinical research and held leadership roles as Radiotherapy Development Lead and Brachytherapy Clinical Lead. Dr Khaksar also has a strong interest in medical education and was the Royal College Clinical Tutor for oncology trainees from 2019 to 2021.
